SAN ANTONIO - A scattering of showers and thunderstorms will be in the forecast through the rest of today with a gradual decrease in coverage this evening as co

by Chief Meteorologist Chris Suchanoling kicks in. In this type of pattern, not everyone will see rain today but for those with outdoor plans, have a backup plan just in case you need to take it indoors for a time.

At this time, a remnant outflow boundary from last night's storms is stretched out across our area near and south of the Hwy 90 corridor while a weak upper air impulse moves into the area. Storms are developing near this boundary in response with a severe storm already in Frio County. Looking at severe weather parameters, there's plenty of instability in the atmosphere for strong to severe storms with just enough wind shear present to occasionally strengthen a storm updraft to develop very large hail, possibly to 2" diameter. Southern Bexar County and our southern half of the area is the most likely zone south of the boundary to see this risk.

After today, the risk of showers and storms drops quite a bit for the week ahead with only an isolated rain chance Monday then heat and humidity dominating weather headlines into the middle of the week.
