Salt Lake City quiere convertir el viaducto 400 Sur en una ‘almenara de conexión’

Un ciclista cruza el viaducto 400 South al oeste de Pioneer Park el sábado 2 de marzo de 2024. La ciudad está diseñando un nuevo camino multipropósito a lo largo de 400 South, conectando Poplar Grove con el centro de la ciudad.Esta veterana residente de Poplar Grove lleva habitualmente a su hija a la escuela a través del viaducto que atraviesa la carretera, un tramo que se parece más a una pista de carreras que a una arteria principal del núcleo urbano.

El camino previsto en la 400 Sur utilizaría el viaducto existente que lleva la carretera por encima de un astillero mucho mayor. Los ciclistas ni siquiera tendrían que bajarse de sus bicicletas y subirlas por las escaleras, como se hace en, lo que facilitaría el acceso de los residentes del oeste a eventos populares como el mercado de verano de agricultores de Pioneer Park.

Sizemore y otros funcionarios dijeron que están tratando de promover diversas formas de moverse por la capital de Utah y animar a la gente a cruzar la división este-oeste. “Una de las razones por las que elegimos este proyecto para financiar el arte público es porque es una carretera espantosa, que da mucho miedo cruzar, de este a oeste, de oeste a este”, dijo. “La gente la utiliza mucho.
