Salt Lake City broke the record for most 100-degree days – but it might not last for long

The airport has record 22 days with triple-digit temperatures this year, a new record.A record for the most triple-digit heat days was broken in Utah on Tuesday — and it could be broken again this week., the temperature hit 100 degrees at the Salt Lake International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to “hover in the upper 90s” on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the weather service, and there’s a possibility it could hit 100 again. Residents of southern Utah are cautioned to be on the lookout for flash floods on Wednesday, and another monsoon surge could bring a threat of flash flooding statewide beginning Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service.

In St. George, temperatures in the upper 90s are in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday; the low to mid-90s Friday-Monday; and back up into the upper 90s on Tuesday. There’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms every day through Sunday.
