Rosenberg Railroad Museum is hosting its ninth annual “May the Steam Be With You Rail Festival” May 6.Rosenberg Railroad MuseumThe Star Wars-themed event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the museum grounds, 1921 Ave. F in Rosenberg.
The festival was initially a fall event, but the museum opted to move it to spring because the month of May is closely associated with Star Wars, said Haley Wheeler, the museum's assistant curator. The fourth day of that month became known as Star Wars Day because of a play on the phrase,"May the force be with you," from the Star Wars movies.
“We'll hold another festival in the fall, it will just have a different theme,” Wheeler said. “Star Wars is connected to this festival in terms of theme. We have a cosplay group coming out called the '501st Legion' who dress up as a variety of Star Wars characters. Some of our activities, such as ‘Seek and Find’ have Star Wars characters to find around the property. New to this year, we have a bounce house that is alien-themed.
The family friendly event will feature games, face painting, food trucks, music and trains. Participants will have a chance to ride on a trackless train and play alien laser tag. General admission is as follows: $9 for ages 15-54, $6 for ages 2-14, $7 for ages 55 and up and $7 for members of the military and first responders. Admission is free for children under age 2.The museum is a 501 organization dedicated to the preservation of and education about railroading in Fort Bend County.
