Abortion rights are now squarely on the chopping block after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to stop the most restrictive anti-abortion law in the country from going into effect.

The Texas law prohibits abortions after the 6th week of pregnancy As you know, many/most women don't even know they're pregnant during the first 6 weeks. What's more, if an abortion is performed after the 6th week, any citizen in the country -- not just Texas, but the entire country -- can sue anyone who helps facilitate the abortion for $10,000 plus attorney's fees.

That means someone could sue not only the clinic, but the Uber driver who took the woman to the facility, a friend who made a call to the clinic on the woman's behalf, a counselor who advised the woman, the spouse of the woman, etc. The Supreme Court was asked to put the law on ice Tuesday night, before it went into effect at midnight, but SCOTUS was silent ... and in this case, silence speaks volumes. If the justices didn't feel this law squarely violated Roe vs. Wade, it's a loud, screaming signal about their feelings toward Roe.

For now ... Roe vs. Wade is effectively not the law of the land in Texas, where abortion clinics cannot exist at this point ... and its fate now hangs in the balance.

It's starting to sound like an offshoot of the Taliban has taken control in Texas.

How about instead passing a law where any private citizen can file against any other who doesn't wear a mask, refuses to get vaccinated, occupies an ICU bed a vaccinated person needs, or spreads vaccine disinformation? Attach a $10K 'reporting award' for that?!?

But once these said kids are born and these women can’t afford to pay for them and need to be on state funding or sent to foster care…what happens then? Shame the mom for not being able to afford her kid she was forced to have? This is the one time I agree, mybodymychoice

There are ways of ending a pregnancy at home safely. Plenty of things can cause a miscarriage, so this does nothing. Have fun with you garbage bag, backpack, grocery bag, wooded area abandoned babies. Yall love wishing evil on the young.

The same idiots celebrating this are the same ones crying out wearing a mask and getting vaccinated. What happened to'my body, my choice'? Are y'all done pretending to be pro-life?

Seems like both groups using the 'my body my choice' mantra will be heading court...

The American Taliban doing all they can.

Use birth control, be responsible..

Expand the court and protest like hell!

Texas is a bitch ass place stg

Supreme Court asked to block Texas' six-week abortion banGroup of abortion-rights advocates and providers file emergency request with the Supreme Court asking the justices to block implementation of a new Texas law that bans procedures as early as 6 weeks. I'm guessing that this 'law' is 100% illegal. Whether you are for or against abortion it is currently legal in all 50 states without a 6-week ban (correct me if I'm wrong) . FYI, I'm pro life but I obey our laws. When killing unborn babies what's the proper time frame? What next? A ban on contraception? These fools really want to get in a good spot in the line for The Rapture I guess!
