The Rockies’ left-hander is a technician and when he’s precise, he’s very good. But when the left-hander misses his spots, he sometimes gets hit like a piñata. Such was the case Sunday.

“I think Kyle’s stuff is good enough, and there are times when Kyle’s stuff in the strike zone definitely has enough action to get guys out,” manager Bud Black said. “But today, there were some mistakes. Today was not his day.”Veteran outfielder/designated hitter Charlie Blackmon left Sunday’s game after hitting a double in the eighth inning. Blackmon was limping noticeably when he rounded first base.Rookie outfielder Sean Bouchard went 2-for-3 with a career-high three RBIs.

Seven different Padres recorded multi-hit games Sunday, a season-high.Ryan McMahon hit his 19th home run of the season Sunday, a solo shot to lead off the third inning. The homer measured 439 feet, McMahon’s eighth home run of the season over 430 feet. His average home run distance of 425.
