NEW: Rochester, New York, is moving crisis intervention out of its police dept. amid outrage and protests over the death of Daniel Prude, the Black man with mental health issues who died after officers placed a spit hood over his head and restrained him.

The man’s brother, Joe Prude, said he had mental health and drug problems and had been acting out on March 22. Joe Prude called 911 that day, and Prude was hospitalized for about three hours for a mental health check.Prude had been visiting from Chicago and returned to his brother’s home, where he apparently began acting out again, according to his brother’s account. Joe Prude said he again called police, this time resulting in the incident shown in the video.

At one point, it appeared Prude stopped breathing. Paramedics tried to revive him and he was put on life support at a hospital, but died seven days later. The videos sparked four consecutive nights of protests in Rochester as protesters rallied against the delay in information regarding the circumstances of Prude’s detainment and death.

The pattern and phases of BLM operations. First stage='Peaceful protest' (essentially staging area for the rioters to see how many show up, what riot gear everyone brought and decide the time when police and residents will be attacked. Second stage=Engage the citizens and police.

Now put it into action instead of what is always done, 'we talked, we agreed, we made a plan, we have procedures, we did nothing' we always hear about upcoming changes, but never see the actions to have them come to fruition.

You'd think getting his PCP dealer off the streets would be the top priority.

It's sad. The man was naked, handcuffed, and sitting on the ground in the rain. Basic human decency would have dictated that he be given a cover and placed in the back of a police car. This was a travesty and absolutely avoidable death.

How about stop blaming the police and blame your State Government Leaders for not adding more $$$ into mental health resources for their citizens.

don't talk to cops and don't ever call the cops.

Seems to me The Chief lied to the Mayor. He should have been removed too. I don’t see how she can have confidence in him. He seemed to have covered the issue up. This prolly not the first time and won’t be the last.

Please stop that Shit🤨🤨

The answer for mental health and substance abuse for years has been hide them away or let the police kill them truth hurts, the actions have shown time and time again. It's time out for a governments not responsible approach.

It’s not working

...and was on PCP and had excited delirium

Was applying the spit hood standard procedure?
