Robyn Silvernagle is a three\u002Dtime Saskatchewan women\u0027s champion after beating Nancy Martin 8\u002D4 in Sunday\u0027s provincial final.

The North Battleford skip guided her first-year team of third Kelly Schafer, second Sherry Just and lead Kara Thevenot to an 8-4 win over the Martensville Curling Club’s Nancy Martin in Sunday’s championship final at Affinity Place.Stay on the ball with the 306 Sports Fix newsletter.

“He spent almost an entire year in the hospital from the time he was born,” Silvernagle said. “I think it was eight surgeries and he will need more and hopefully not for a little while. There were a few moments there where he shouldn’t have made it. We’re so happy that he’s here with us. Martin had beaten Silvernagle 9-2 in an A-event semifinal on Thursday and 9-8 in Saturday’s Page Playoff game. Martin, who was curling with third Lindsay Bertsch, second Jennifer Armstrong and lead Krysten Karwacki, wasn’t able to complete the sweep at the most important time.

“We had been on the ice so we got control of the jitters early,” she said. “When we got on the ice again we knew that we were playing well, so we went after them right away. We didn’t want them to have time to get their feet under them.”
