HONG KONG - A move by China’s People’s Liberation Army to clear debris and barricades left by anti-government protesters in Hong Kong on Saturday was initiated as a “voluntary community activity” by the military, a city spokesman said. The spokesman said the city government did not request assistance from the PLA, which has stayed confined to its garrison during months of protests that have gripped Hong Kong.

Shame on Reuters! Never report truth of HongKong! Your picture is fake! Yesterday,PLA only helped the Hong Kong citizen to remove the roadblocks set by violent protestors! The PLA only used buckets and brooms, no guns at all, no tanks at all!

Well routers is bullshiting again , this uniform is a autumn version. Nobody will be stupid enough to wear that in hk. Not like ur bear hat lololol

Internet shut down in iran, who can stop this fascist regime!!! Iranprotets netblocks

PLA is uninvited and out of control. They breach Basic Law.

Those Chinese volunteers.....a long time ago PLA volunteers showed up in Korea.

let me get this straight. They have violated the Basic Law. This is NOT allowed. They can use this 'voluntary' excuse next time to crack down on protests.

Soldiers are supposed to obey military rules even off duty? BTW, HKGov declared they did not request the help from PLA, that means the 'voluntary'work is illegal, and HKPolice should fire tear gas at them as they did to HKers🙄

I can’t believe you guys are crying out cuz PLA try to babysit u guys and clean up what you pooped to the city.

Basic Law: am I a joke to you? 扑街:光复香港 Basic Law: Hey, I am here. Read me first 扑街:时代革命 Basic Law:去你妈的,死刑起步

Well done! This is an excellent team! Respect them!❤️

PLA is under CCP, if PLA can involve into HK affair, other country can as well :)

Is the basic law of Hong Kong still useful?

Basic Law: Hey, I am here. Read me first. PLA : Who are you.

Basic Law: am I a joke to you?

This is a test of the response from the world and HKers, today is a 'clear up', tomorrow Chinese PLA could justify their 'help' in other forms? Do you still trust any words from 🇨🇳?

Now anti-govt protesters are endorsing 1country 2system, Basic Law for their argument when all these while they had been proclaiming HK is not part of China, and are fighting for independence. Political expediency at its best.

They did about 30 minutes work before jogging back to barracks, it was signalling.

There’s no room for any person on behalf of the PLA doing ‘voluntary’ work in HK HongKong

This violated the Basic Law constitution, and this move aimed to test how HK-ers react to their interfere local affairs. Pro-Beijing camp group organized to gather their supporters to help them, while claimed it’s a *coincidence* LOL

Picture had nothing to do with the wording. Always try to mislead people quietly. Dislike 👎

The voluntary road clearing is an excuse. The purposes are to test the response from the Hongkong citizen and the world and clean the bad impression of them on 4th June 1989.

thats against the Basic Law which does not allow PLA to intervene into the local Hong Kong affairs. They could voluntarily clear PROTESTORS next time, or crackdown to be exact. StandwithHonKong

Well Honk King hole you enjoyed the freedom the weat gave you....cause it's about to go away.

China is testing the bottom line of Hong Kong again with a symbolic act by their army, ignoring any restrictions of the law...son they will start to kill all the hk ppl HKHumanRightsandDemocracyAct SOSHK HongKong

This violates hongkong constitutional document - basiclaw Article 14. hk govt already said such actions by pla was none of its business. So what's going on here? The Basic Law is void already? If no more 1C2S, then foreign countries should reconsider its footprint in HK.

Voluntary, and when they “clear HK of people that want democracy and human rights”, they will do that voluntarily too I guess.

The PLA has seriously violated the Basic Law. If they can do “voluntary work” spontaneously on the street, they can also start Tiananmen2019 whenever they want! And their commanding tone towards reporters made me extremely uncomfortable👇🏻

This violates the Basic Law.

This gives the mobs a clear signal.

help hk police bake in PolyU

This is clearly violation of the Basic law. The army could help upon HKGov’s request. But both parties have admited that this is self-initated by the troops. RULE OF LAW is dead. ONE COUNTRY TWO SYSTEMS is dead. Deeply worrying about their next step.
