Republicans have already heard from the president himself, who has taken a divergent path from past nominees and presidents in both parties by deciding to speak every day during the convention.Speaking Monday in Charlotte, N.C., the president focused on stock market gains during his first term and launched a litany of attacks against Democrats. He delivered his remarks to a live crowd, marking a significant departure from the DNC, which was conducted entirely online.
Another contrast from the Democratic convention: the roll call. The president was renominated Monday, but it was a dull, scaled down vote that took place during the day – nothing like the travelogue-type roll call that won so much acclaim last week.The two and a half hours of programming each night this week will be something of a high-wire act, hastily organized after the coronavirus pandemic upended two different in-person convention plans for both Charlotte, and Jacksonville, Fla.
