After seeing the results of the homeless count, Supervisor Janice Hahn, the board chair, acknowledged that it is “hard to be optimistic when that progress is overwhelmed by the number of people falling into homelessness. The homelessness crisis took decades to create, and we knew it wouldn’t be solved overnight, but that doesn’t mean these latest numbers aren’t disheartening.”
Despite admonishments about disruptions, the heated reactions continued. At one point, sheriff's deputies had to walk through the crowd asking people to keep quiet. Others agreed. Los Angeles City Councilman David Ryu characterized these results as “sobering but not surprising,” and added that bold action is needed from elected officials.
The 52-year-old said he has has lived on a sidewalk outside Gold’s Gym for nine months. He has bounced from Long Beach to Santa Monica, but prefers to stay in Venice.
Gavin invited them.
Probably because the LACityCouncil will let any homeless person plop down a tent on any sidewalk, anywhere they want to in LA.....and live there. And sleep there. And do drugs there. And defecate there. And then they wonder why LA is turning into a true shithole of a city.
That’s because the only thing Democrats actually do, is ruin thriving cities. CA is bankrupt and lawless. WalkAwayFromDemocratSocialists

chelsearosie199 did you feel the progress?
Making America Great, Trump is golfing again.
Stop voting for Democrats
Shame a rich country like US has this problem. I thought only poor countries face this dilema
First off, admit the root cause of the precipitous rise in the last 5 years (passings of props 47 & 57) and the government’s lack of preparation to deal with the rise of people with severe mental disabilities & drug additions hitting the streets at once.
No officials aren’t fed up, you ridiculous water carriers. You contribute to the problem
The cause is Govt control socialism so more Govt control spending taken from the Free Mkt & Individual Liberty economy will only make it worse by ending jobs & wages as housing prices inflate to unaffordable by ever more ppl increasing homelessness & life taking diseases
Homeless magnet, best welfare
Gonna get a lot worse in the years to come.
Great job RepMaxineWaters we will remember this when it’s time to vote
I look for housing for developmentally disabled adults at my job. The price of a bachelor apartment no bigger or nicer than a motel 6 room is going for $1100 in Los Angeles. And your income must be 3x the rent amount with excellent credit to be approved as a tenant
I think we need to give more money for fix this issue
California should be ashamed
How much housing units are illegals using and displacing our homeless citizens?
Time for some Republican leadership to cleanup this liberal mess.
Sanctuary states not only conceal, protect and sustain illegals but people who are fugitives. Dont complain now. Have fun with your liberal lawlessness and lack of boundaries California.
Look at all the homeless black men (most likely screwed over some black women somewhere) featured in this article and the Hispanic business owners (Most likely not even legally in this country) complaining about black homeless men mucking up his business.
Give them bus tickets to San Francisco.
Homelessness has been a problem since Ca closed its state mental hospitals. Add drugs, alcohol and a lack of opportunity which is common in LA and we get a huge homeless problem. RecallGavinNewsom
I bet the homeless are fed up too.
But LA spending more time on renaming their football stadium then working on homelessness. That the democrats way. Democrats don’t know how to solve problems but they do know how to create them. Democrats are the problem with no solutions!!
Sanctuary states not only conceal, protect and sustain illegals but people who are criminals. Dont complain now. Have fun with your liberal lawlessness and lack of boundaries California.

And the liberal leftists want to allow unlimited illegal aliens to cross the border and reallocate billions of dollars for illegals at the expense of our own country’s most vulnerable.
How many people from other countries own property in Cali, as Americans are homeless. RentCap RentTooDamnHigh
Umm... politicians just basically said that homeowners don't have property rights and can't stop homeless people from putting up tents on their property. The 'officials' did the exact opposite of what is coming out of their mouths because democrats are idiots.
The United States should be so good,,,,,,,,,,, Hi Sweden you are the best country
Seriously, at what point do the residents of these cities (Seattle, NY, LA, SF, Austin) look at their local gvts and decide to make a change? Honest question. Their communities are in ruins and they keep electing the same political geniuses who created it or allowed it. Insane.
Most of the homeless aren’t even from California, they’re from other states...
Greed, higher rents are pushing families to the streets. Its wrong. We need state controlled affordable housing now.
First, stop all of the free stuff. Second, tell the LAPD to make these people feel unwelcome. Problem solved.
Money laundering, racketeering, conspiracy, malfeasance, and corruption... All actions omitted behind doors
How Reaganomics Destroyed The Middle Class...And Maybe America.!! THE RICH ARE RICH BY DESIGN. RICH PARASITE MONEY HOARDERS LIVE OFF THE BACKS OF LABOR. BUY ELECTIONS, THEN CHANGE THE TAX CODE.!!
California created this problem by allowing home prices and rental prices to skyrocket, forcing Californians into homelessness. JayPealer
Democrats in charge this is what you get democratsfortrump
