Calgary, Alberta - A right-wing, pro-energy party won a landslide victory in Canada’s main oil-producing province of Alberta late on Tuesday, signaling momentum may be building against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau months ahead of a federal election in October.
“Alberta is open for business!” UCP leader Jason Kenney said in his victory speech in Calgary on Tuesday. “Albertans have elected a government obsessed with getting Albertans back to work.” The scandal has cost the prime minister his lead over rival Conservative Party leader Andrew Scheer, polls show.

Spells trouble for Albertans; students, teachers, healthcare both providers and recipients, LGBDQ people, seniors, wage earners, social services, and everyone who enjoys breathing fresh air, drinking clean water, growing things...you know, living safe.
God, I hope so. The sooner that moonbat is gone, the better.
They didn't vote for the UCP, they voted against the status quo.
Unfortunately, being an Albertan I am very disappointed with the result. Integrity, common sense and collaboration are what I look for in a Leader. Kenney possesses none.
If I could draw, I'd draw a cartoon where Justin T is trying to pull a couple of dollar bills from an unsuspecting average Canadian's back pocket, with a thought balloon 'It's for the greater good' and Doug F/Jason K standing there, seeing it all happen, both shouting 'HEY!!!'
Canada Strongandfree
Canada is in trouble if this form of false prosperity and and other ugliness spreads to the federal election.
Trudeau is done. He is a vapid, virtue signaling husk, who rode the coat tails of his father into office. Bye and good riddance I say.
Why? Liberals are still historically supported by the population dense east. Ford is a huge anomaly in Ontario and is anything but popular. He won't be reelected.
More likely to spell relief. Kenney will be an effective scapegoat.
