Los Angeles singer-songwriter Ricky Montgomery has signed with Warner Records,The L.A.-born artist began playing music when he moved to St. Louis, Missouri at fourteen. After posting clips of humorous original songs on Vine, he gained a following that encouraged him to release theMontgomery Ricky
, followed in 2016, but when interest in the project stalled, Montgomery pivoted to writing and performing in the indie band The Honeysticks. In 2018, he took a break from the industry, and was just about to give up the idea of being a professional musician -- when all of a sudden, he found himself in the midst of internet stardom once again. cuts “Line Without a Hook” and “Mr. Loverman” blew up on TikTok, and suddenly the labels were knocking.
By the time autumn rolled around, Warner Records emerged as the battle royal champion, and they put pen to paper with Montgomery. “We have been fans of Ricky’s for some time, and were blown away by how he has taken his already sizable audience over the past year and expanded it into one of the most passionate and quickly growing fanbases in music today,” says A&R Analysis senior director Sean Stevens, who signed Montgomery alongside A&R evp Nate Albert.
