Krapopolis, the new animated series from Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon, has already been renewed for season 3. Harmon is perhaps best known for creating the cult favorite NBC sitcom Community, which currently has a reunion movie in production. However, after scoring a huge hit with Rick and Morty, he began to focus more on animated content, also creating the fantasy web series HarmonQuest, which blended live-action and animation.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Krapopolis could very well be another hit considering the fact that Fox has renewed the series for season 3 before season 1 has even premiered. In fact, season 1 doesn't even have an official release date yet, though a 2023-2024 season debut has been confirmed.
The official plot synopsis reveals that Krapopolis is set in the world of ancient Greek mythology. Perhaps taking inspiration from the fact that the modern notion of democracy stemmed from ancient Greece, it will follow the group of characters attempting to rule one of the first-ever cities without biting each other's heads off. The head-biting could potentially be very literal, as the group is a mixture of humans, gods, and monsters.
The stacked cast of Krapopolis includes Ted Lasso's Hannah Waddingham, who recently won an Emmy for her role on the Apple TV+ series. Also on hand are The IT Crowd's Richard Ayoade, What We Do in the Shadows' Matt Berry, podcaster Duncan Trussell, and Monsters University's Pam Murphy. Some guest stars who are set to provide voices on the series include Susan Sarandon, Jane Lynch, Dave Franco, and Community alum Yvette Nicole Brown.
