Caruso's opponent in the Los Angeles mayoral race, Rep. Karen Bass, has attacked him for the unfulfilled pledge.

No money has been put into the committee since it launched in May, though the group has racked up more than $9,000 in legal bills.into his mayoral campaign.

Reproductive rights — an issue the mayor of Los Angeles will have little control over — have become a focal point in the race since the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade was announced two weeks after the June primary. It’s a very different picture from the spring, when political tailwinds and near-unlimited funding fueled Caruso’s ascent.

Representatives from Women’s March Action, Emily’s List, the political arm of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles and other women’s political groups also spoke.

so do people out there think there's just some magical checking account called 'abortion rights' that he can wire money into? i don't see a timeline specified and the election hasn't happened yet

The LA Times complains about Caruso who has actually donated millions of dollars to worthy endeavors. Yet, they still complain because he hasn't followed thru with this one. So, how much has Bass given to worthy causes? Complain about that instead, OK?

It's because Rick was a Republican until he decided to run for mayor in a heavily democratic city. He's a real estate developer who doesn't care about people. He cares about land development for fancy outdoor malls.

LOL Once again, a billionaire offering millions, when he didn’t need to run for office to do that. If he actually cared, he could have been doing it for DECADES. Wake up, LA. This is utter nonsense.

A pro choice Republican. Well if he meant it then it might be cool.

Come on LA times, do better. USC Keck Health, to which Caruso has donated millions, provides abortion services to students.

We don’t need a Trump like billionaire as our mayor. He won’t help people. He will only try to make more money for himself and his rich buddies.

Gee, I wonder why? It couldn't possibly be because of this, can it? 🤔

Do you mean the owner of this beaut? Maybe the million$ went to cruising around Portofino.

No one else thinks this guy comes off as creepy as hell?

cuz he sucks, case closed

He might be just kidding.

Praying he wins. Keep that criminal BLM Bass out

Not surprising at all. Please do not elect an extremely wealthy person to office. The wealthy already have power. And they do not help those less fortunate with either policies

Oh how fascinating… what is this I see 👀

LOL “A billionaire pledged a million.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

HE'S NOT A DEMOCRAT!!!!

Do you guys have to do any sort of reporting as a an ultra-progressive PAC and plaything for the privileged socialist daughter of a billionaire, or do you still get away with pretending to be a newspaper?

Pretty much the way it's going to go with the rest of his pledges CarusoCant

Oh I'm so SHOCKED!!! ...

Natalie Morales joins CBS News as Los Angeles correspondentNEW YORK (AP) — Natalie Morales is joining CBS News as a correspondent and will do stories for the crime series “48 Hours” as well the network's weekday and weekend morning shows, the network said on Monday. So the entertainment stuff was too lite for her. The Talk is one of the few shows that's non-political, but I just realized that's the show that fired S Osbourne. 😳 I guess the entire cast is new? I like them. I'm glad Natalie isn't leaving. Ppl will flock to anything non-political. NBC messed up by removing DOL from daytime.
