Salt Lake City Police look through car windows as they investigate a shooting at the Pebble Creek Apartments on 1700 S, where on person was killed and three were injured, on Monday, June 6, 2022.The headlines coming out of the weekend were grim.
The first incident in the Axios report involved two cars pulling up at a graduation party in Summerton, South Carolina, and opening fire, killing one and wounding another seven. Almost all the victims were in their teens. According to police, it was a gang-related shooting stemming from previous drive-by shootings.
The former are relatively rare, uniquely shattering events for a community and the nation at large that are, unfortunately, very difficult to combat. The Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics wore shirts emblazoned with the phrase “End Gun Violence” prior to their NBA Finals game the other night. That sentiment is anodyne and politically correct enough to be perfect for professional athletes, but slogans don’t accomplish anything, and the usual gun control measures aren’t going to “end” gun violence.
We all still know the Clinton’s Advisor was hanging from a tree with a gun shot to the chest. I think that’s almost 50 of people tied to them and Epstein . Time to flood every social page with this.
Lowry wants us to believe we magically have an epidemic of gang violence without an epidemic of guns.
True. But, as usual, Lowry seeks to divert attention from the real story of the times - the horrendous number and toll of non-gang school, hospital, church, grocery store shootings. Going to the 'gang' issue is attractive to racists and 2A types, often one and the same.
