Pierce the Veil are becoming regular visitors to San Antonio The San Diego, Calif., rock band opened for I Prevail a year ago at the Boeing Center at Tech Port and will be here next June with Blink-182. On Friday night, their headlining tour in support of a new album, “The Jaws of Life,” came to The Espee.
After taking the stage to Vicente Fernández’s “El Rey,” a nod to the band’s Latino roots and fans, Pierce the Veil opened the show with “Death of an Executioner” off “The Jaws of Life.” They focused on the new album but also showed off the their range, from the Fall Out Boy like pop-punk rush of “Circles” to the more elaborate “May These Noises Startle You in Your Sleep” and “Hell Above,” which kicked off the 2012 album “Collide With the Sky.
