Review: Jubilee Theatre show deftly portrays lives of Black men

Characters in the Fort Worth production of Keenan Scott II’s ‘Thoughts of a Colored Man’ are both symbols of different states of mind and well-drawn people with hopes and disappointments.

Can one play deal with all of that? Probably not.

They’re here to take on life’s questions, big and small. Is change better than the status quo? What’s more important, sex or love? Who was the superior player, While waiting in line for the latest sneaker release, the characters go back and forth over the history of athletic shoes. Why does acquiring these high-priced commodities matter, they wonder? Maybe it shouldn’t.as it deftly navigates the human condition, informed by history and the context of a specific time, place and people.
