Andrew Kudrick, 50, of Farmingdale, who left the Howell Township Police Department in 2021, pleaded guilty to one count of obstructing the administration of law or other governmental function, according to a release from the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.
Investigators alleged that Kudrick lied about the affair during that investigation and threatened another subordinate in an effort to get him to lie as well, authorities said. New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin said at the time that the “imbalance of power” between a chief and his subordinates makes any romantic relationship “wholly inappropriate, violative of policy, and detrimental to the safety and well-being of the officers and civilians under the chief’s command.”
