The Iowa presidential caucuses were thrown into chaos late Monday after the state Democratic Party said it found"inconsistencies," delaying results and causing widespread confusion across the state.
"We found inconsistencies in the reporting of three sets of results. In addition to the tech systems being used to tabulate results, we are also using photos of results and a paper trail to validate that all results match and ensure that we have confidence and accuracy in the numbers we report," said Mandy McClure, the state party's communications director.
"This is simply a reporting issue. The app did not go down, and this is not a hack or an intrusion. The underlying data and paper trail is sound and will simply take time to further report the results," McClure added. The state party had earlier said it was carrying out"quality control checks, making sure the numbers are accurate."The state party hosted a conference call with the campaigns sometime after 11 p.m. ET, but sources confirmed that party leaders hung up as campaign officials pressed for more information about the various reporting issues and when they would receive more data and results. The call became very heated, sources said.
As the state party scrambled to sift through three sets of numbers, election workers struggled to use a new smartphone app created for caucus organizers to calculate and report results.Sign Up
This is how BernieSanders gets pushed out by TheDemocrats. Can’t count but want to provide everyone with free everything.
Paper ballots across the country. No more of this. Have we not learned?
What is wrong with a good ol hand count? I'm an I.T. professional, and I can say most things we use technology for we don't need to. Kid's don't use dictionaries or write reports anymore. Cookbooks can't be found in kitchens anymore. It is too much.
DHS reported they offered to scan it for vulnerabilities and the Iowa Dems refused the offer. Wonder why. Kinda like that Obamacare website debacle. You folks can’t scratch your own ass.
And people want Democrats to run the country, What a joke! Technology is so far above their heads it is unbelievable. Running a totally partisan sham impeachment was just not enough for them. Sadly ignorant 😔.
Don't vote with apps.
How come the United States of America Can't even have a election with out any Bullshit. Other Countries used to look up at AMERICA now they just look down and Laughing This is the AMERICA Trump wanted So he is free to do whatever him and his family wants. This is a disgrace
Is it really the app the problem or: 1) people not using it because they don't trust it; 2) people not registering to it properly or forgetting credentials ?
And Pete owns the rights and subscriptions. Pete paid in part for the app. ELECTION FRAUD!!!
We can't even get chairs to agree on whether or not they follow the same protocol? Man I feel for all of those volunteers.
Nevada to Iowa - hold my beer...
the delay in the Iowa Caucus is being caused by glitches & irregularities in a new voting app being used for the first time this year Who helped develop the app? Robby Mook—Hillary Clinton's former campaign manager
Is that Einstein? They called in Einstein to figure this one out. 🤣
Caucuses may have worked in the olden days when we didn't have electronic communications. They are outdated along with the horse and wagon.
Signs of things to come.
