As more customers return to restaurants and bars, questions remain about staffing, profits, mask policies and the impact of the Covid-19 Delta variant. Here is what to expect if you are a diner, worker or owner.

Diners are returning to restaurants and bars, with sales up nearly 9% in June from the same month in 2019, before the pandemic, Census figures show. Some of the last remaining states with Covid-19-related indoor-dining restrictions——including Washington, New Mexico and Oregon——lifted them in recent weeks.

The highly contagious Covid-19 Delta variant threatens to hurt restaurants’ ability to completely return to normal, however. Tldr- if you're unvaccinated and eat indoors, there's a decent chance you'll get covid, and then a chance you'll die or have long term complications. If you're vaccinated and eat indoors, you'll likely get covid, but more likely you'll be sick but ok.
