'Resign, Mr. Cuomo': New York paper that endorsed governor three times turns on him

"He has brought to fruition a host of important progressive goals. But between his manipulation of state ethics bodies, multiple allegations of sexual harassment and these latest revelations on nursing home deaths, he has lost the credibility he needs to lead this state, especially in the midst of a public health crisis," the editors continued.

Cuomo's administration insisted Friday that scientific accuracy, and not political face-saving, is what encouraged members of their pandemic task force to ask the state health department to delete COVID-19 data last summer. Those numbers were exposed in January after a state attorney general report showed a massive discrepancy between the reported nursing home deaths and those that actually occurred.

"The state had a more complete number of nursing home deaths, but it was higher than Mr. Cuomo's close aides wanted it to be," the newspaper wrote, highlighting the above names as part of the conspiracy to cover-up those numbers. The editorial highlighted how Cuomo's book deal likely factored into the administration's decision to"lie about why why it lied."
