The residents' input could influence Phoenix's $500 million bond request for roads, sustainability, parks and public safety.

Phoenix firefighters have made their voices heard at numerous bond subcommittee meetings and Wednesday was no different.

State Rep. Jennifer Longdon was one of the few non-firefighters to speak in support of additional fire stations, sharing vivid details of her own shooting in 2004 that left her partially paralyzed, and how that experience shaped her support for public safety: The city suggests replacing three stations and building one additional. Firefighters want to replace four and build four more.Koko Hunter said the South Phoenix Youth Center gave him confidence when he was a 16-year-old with holes in his clothes and shoes.
