Researchers at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) have successfully made the most accurate measurements of the Earth's rotation so far. The measurements were made after more than two decades spent building the necessary instrument at the Geodetic Observatory Wettzell , located in the Bavarian forest in Germany . It is common knowledge that the Earth's rotational axis is not entirely symmetric due to the shape of our planet. However, even the speeds at which the Earth spins are not constant.
