A Senate Republican proposal on the next coronavirus relief package will include $70 billion for K-12 schools, with half that amount reserved for schools that reopen fully for in-person instruction

The preliminary plan would earmark another $30 billion for colleges and universities—aid that isn’t contingent on in-person reopenings—and $5 billion for governors to use for education at their discretion, Republicans said.

Guessing it doesn’t matter to him that children will get infected, infect their parents, grand parents, on and on and on. This will result in another spike in illness and deaths which will in turn send America backwards and prolong isolation.

GOP blackmailing parents to send their children to school with no assurance that they will be safe. Trump and Republicans want schools opened for a purely political reason. We ALL want our children back to learning but Trump admin. is the cause for caution. No plan=no students

More money for greater risk. Is that the best way to run education? Scandinavian countries used sports stadia as temporary schools - thinking outside the box

Hell no

Bribing schools to sacrifice the lives of our kids.

This is disgusting. Blackmailing schools to force them to put kids' & teachers' lives on the line. How many SenateGOP are going to send their kids back to school? Oh, right. As mainly old, rich white men, their kids are too old to be affected by this. Craven ghouls, all of them.

Some theatre owner in Michigan(I believe) is proposing using his movie theaters for school. They are big enough for social distancing, ect. Its novel, and I don't have young children, but it could work,I think.

Ohh Mitch thinks giving birth to our kids didn’t hurt

No no no no. It isnt the fucking GOP's money. If they want to fuck with that use your own money!

Teachers here are doing all instruction online, teaching, grading, communication with other staff, etc. It’s no vacation. Teachers would much rather teach in person but are aware of the dangers involved with being in the classroom right now.

They better fund the schools really well, make sure ventilation, pipes etc must be really really clean, ensure that kids able 2 do social distancing, kids n teachers have proper gear. I am for distance learning but some may like kids in school like single working parents.

So, extortion.

😆😆😆😆😆 The GOP seems to have forgotten how many Republican women are elementary school teachers. They're not going to be willing to go back in the classroom anytime soon and their husbands are going to hear about it

They want to kill us, fuck them

...So bribery.

He is despicable.

A Senate Republican proposal on the next coronavirus relief package will include $70 billion for K-12 schools, with half that amount reserved for schools that reopen fully for in-person instruction and the other half for family members ICU beds and ventilators.

Fuck the government. It is time for a reset. Vote all of them out in November

Half for schools that reopen fully? Blackmail

Funding for lurking lawsuits when teachers, staff and students die or health is permanently compromised b/c online/hybrid wasn’t an option.

Schools that do not open for physical instruction do not need the $1.3M allotted for cleaning, transportation etc. That should be a no-brainer.

Throwing money to try to buy your way around a disease makes no sense. It doesnt make Covid19 go away. The smart solution is staying home. And doing that will make Coronavirus fade away. But trying to pay for ways around it is rather foolish

The house will never go for it. What a waste of time.

So Senate Republicans, are you individually picking which children are going to die of Covid?

So... they are literally paying to kill children

Why do schools need 70billion. The schools are closed teachers don’t want to go back.

I just want to wet my beak.

Schools could have opened on time, fully, had the senate majority ldr put the money in the first or second distribution. They could have redone the classrooms and hallways and made them safe. Ain’t nobody with good sense gonna send their kids into a death chamber.

Betsy is going to steal it for private schools again.

This is coercion. Plain and simple.

So schools are about to get paid to put lives at risk. Awesome...and yet we don’t know why the U.S. is a Covid-tastrophe.

Well that won’t pass.

Typical republican response, take OUR TAX DOLLARS to push their agenda regardless of the consequences...sick

Just give the money to a school of their choice. NOT INDOCTRINATION CAMPS. They are already extorting the government for Medicare for all and defunding the police. DO NOT REWARD THEM. senatemajldr

Kill kids for money Mitch is always working the angels

In other words: children's lives have a price.

If they close they give it up

Is not about our kids health is about school money?! Great american dream

moscow mitch holding the american people hostage,,with his failure to pass the virus relief package that people are desperate to receive/. do not pass,,let the voters give them their just do/.

So it’s basically the money or your kids health. You can’t have both.

👏👏👏👏

save the college $$ and give it to k-12.

Republican Governor Says School Kids Who Catch COVID-19 Will 'Get Over It'He also says the risk of children not returning to school 'will create more problems than the virus will ever think about creating.' Even if this were true, what if having this virus opens you up at some later point to something worse. IE chicken pox/shingles I was enraged when I heard him say that... 'kids will get sick and just go home.' Ummm... are they going home to an empty house? I don't think so. They get their entire family sick who then get their community sick. COVIDIDIOTS May I suggest he fill in as a long term sub this year since so many teachers are resigning or retiring
