Five of seven candidates on the GOP ballot have confirmed their attendance at Tuesday's 'Spotlight on Pennsylvania' debate at Dickinson College.

Candidates Kathy Barnette, Jeff Bartos, George Bochetto, Sean Gale and Carla Sands at the Republican U.S. Senate debate at Dickinson College on April 26, 2022. Joe Hermitt | jhermitt@pennlive.comFive Republicans who hope to be their party’s nominee for Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate seat — a seat that could be crucial in determining if the party regains control of that chamber — will debate this evening at Dickinson College.on Facebook.

This debate is the third of three “Spotlight on Pennsylvania” debates. Confirmed to participate this evening are conservative commentator and author Kathy Barnette; former GOP lieutenant governor candidate Jeff Bartos; attorney George Bochetto; attorney Sean Gale; and former U.S. Ambassador to Denmark Carla Sands.

Two other candidates on the ballot, Dr. Mehmet Oz and David McCormick, were invited but are not participating. With Oz and McCormick holding small leads in most pollling in the race, and a lot of voters undecided or still willing to reconsider their vote, that makes Tuesday’s forum a great chance for someone else to draw notice and break out of the pack.

The debate is sponsored by the non-profit news outlet Spotlight PA and its founding media partners – The Philadelphia Inquirer, PennLive / The Patriot-News; TribLIVE / Pittsburgh Tribune-Review; and WITF Public Media — and PCN.The successful nominees will run to fill the seat currently held by U.S. Sen Patrick Toomey, who plans to retire.

GOP candidates for US Senate to debate at Dickinson Tuesday: How to watchThe debate, the third in a series, begins at 7 p.m. and is slated to last 90 minutes. GOP- The turkish guy and hedgefund guy, neither living in PA, are our frontrunners. ☆Neither bothering to show up for this debate.... Caught the last 40 some minutes of that train wreck. My analysis: more insulting each other than you’ll ever need to hear all while trying to attach themselves to the guy who headed millions of jobs lost and a huge increase in our deficit. They think that leadership is great.
