Bryant, who began playing for the Los Angeles Lakers in 1996 and stayed there for his entire 20-year NBA career, was a globally famous athlete, a two-time gold-medal winning Olympian and, as the producer of the animated short film “Dear Basketball,” an Academy Award-winner. He was an 18-time NBA All-Star, and led the Lakers to five NBA championships.
In 2003, a 19-year-old hotel employee accused Bryant of rape, causing a significant scandal and transfixing the league for months. Though prosecutors later dropped the charges, the accuser filed a civil lawsuit that ended in an undisclosed settlement. The short animated film “Dear Basketball” was based on a poem he wrote in 2015, as he contemplated his retirement from the game. When the film was nominated for an Oscar , Bryant told
, “This is … a form of validation for people to look and say, ‘OK, he really can do something other than dribble and shoot.” ”
People should unfollow , at this hour they felt it necessary to mention alleged charges. It is my hope that when the author of this piece loses a child or parent, they will experience the same disgusting act. Shameless and vile.
