Las Vegas was scheduled to host the national title game for the first time following the 2024 season, but has been unable to resolve a conflict with the annual Consumer Electronics Show, according to McMurphy’s report. The CES, which draws more than 200,000 convention-goers to Las Vegas every January, has reportedly been unwilling to move its event back a week to accommodate the College Football Playoff.
In steps Atlanta, which would become the first city to host the CFP title game for a second time. The 2018 game, in which Alabama beat Georgia 26-23 in overtime, took place at Atlanta’s Mercedes Benz Stadium. The original 12-year CFP contract expires following the 2026 game at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. The 2023 game takes place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, with Houston’s NRG Stadium to host the 2025 game.
