Rep. Pramila Jayapal Is Fighting for Trans Kids Like Her Daughter

To transgender kids everywhere, I want you to know that we see you, we will stand with you, and we will fight for you. Never give up on your beautiful self and know that you are not alone.

Along with my Transgender Equality Task Force co-chairs, we will be reintroducing a resolution recognizing Transgender Day of Visibility and celebrating the invaluable contributions trans, gender non-conforming, and nonbinary people have made to society. The resolution recommits us to the important legislative work needed to ensure trans folks everywhere can live freely and safely as themselves.

As a mother, I am blessed with a beautiful, compassionate, creative child. And I want her to be unapologetically herself. Learning from her about what she needs and how our own past understanding of gender must shift has been a special gift, too.

RepJayapal If everyone deserves equality, we need to: Abolish all sports, school & professional that are single gender Merge all bathrooms & locker rooms so they are all equal. Delete all gender specific dress codes If it is ok for transgender individuals it needs to be ok for all.
