Republican Rep. Massie ratchets up his obstinance, forces House colleagues back to D.C.

The Washington Post is providing this story for free so that all readers have access to this important information about the coronavirus. For more free stories,The scores of lawmakers who rushed back to Washington Friday to secure passage of a $2.2 trillion rescue bill expressed shock and dismay at having to defy the advice of experts and risk their health amid a global pandemic that has already killed more than 1,000 Americans.During his seven years in Congress, Rep.

Rep. Peter T. King tweeted early Friday morning, “because of one Member of Congress refusing to allow emergency action entire Congress must be called back to vote in House,” and added, “Risk of infection and risk of legislation being delayed. Disgraceful. Irresponsible.” “I am wholly rejecting the notion that I am the culpable one because I am insisting on the rules,” he said, adding, in a reference to the top House Republican, “Why aren’t you indicting Kevin McCarthy for conspiracy to circumvent the Constitution?”

To his colleagues, his political tinkering has been less productive. Massie has operated on the sidelines of the House Republican Conference and has reveled in being a lone wolf, casting votes against scores of bills that he believes exceed the federal government’s constitutional mandates.Massie has been too independent, in fact, for the House Freedom Caucus — a famously restless group of hard-right GOP mavericks.

What a smug son-of-a-bitch.

This guy sounds like a Kaczynski wanna be.

What is it with these southern Republicans, I.e. McConnell, now this guy! What a bunch of arrogant, self serving bums! Yes, bums, albeit rich ones!

Why has Congress not come up with a remote voting plan?

What a jagweed.

Young punk. I hope the voters speak in November. Clearly attention seeking.

Seems like a weirdo

he's a man who thinks big thoughts. he loves the great outdoors, well-worn leather, tail gating, the Bay City Rollers, and bat soup

Leave to Republicans to fuck up a well made plan.

The inbreeding within Kentucky politicians is sick.

Well that is stupid

Wants to go down in infamy for killing off Congress?

Even if Republicans get back in charge, he's never getting anything done for his constituents ever again.

If it were the Italian delegation Massie would have had an unfortunate accident and was unable to vote

Don’t just be pissed at Rep. Massie. He would not be in the Congress if not for the people of the 4th district of Kentucky.

What's going on in Kentucky, anyway. They're known for breeding world-class racehorses and electing horses' asses.

'threatening the health — and potentially the lives — of lawmakers and staff.' A fake 45 kind of guy.
