The first full-length glimpse into Renée Zellweger’s performance in the forthcoming Judy Garland biopicfollows the late showbiz legend in the latter stages of her career, spotlighting Garland as she makes her comeback at a residency at the Talk of the Town in London months before her death in 1969.
Directed by Rupert Goold and co-starring Jessie Buckley, Wittrock and Rufus Sewell, the film focuses on two specific moments in Garland’s career: its triumphant beginning and tragic end. “I thought there was an opportunity to explore something that isn’t often considered when you’re thinking about this larger than life personality—what it was that she delivered in her work and what it cost her,” Zellweger said in a statement.Wizard of Oz
