Red Roof Inn and Springfield Township reach tentative agreement following nuisance lawsuit

Published: Apr. 18, 2024 at 10:24 PM EDT SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP , Ohio - Springfield Township police are fed up with the Red Roof Inn . According to police, the hotel has been overrun with criminal activity for years and it’s taking a toll on their department.

In early April, the township sued the Red Roof Inn for being a nuisance. 19 Investigates learned they have reached a tentative agreement requiring the hotel to ramp up security.Reports show calls for drug possession, robbery, stabbings, prostitution, and sexual assaults. 19 Investigates obtained body camera video from some of them.

In 2020 police were called to the hotel 210 times, in 2021 401 calls were made, a 90% increase and they haven’t slowed down. “At first it was only a massage I didn’t know sex was involved so when I came here, when someone knocked at the door, and I opened the door, and I asked them who are you guys? And without saying anything they rushed in, and they just raped me,” the woman told police through a translator.
