Nearly 400 people gathered at Oak Hill Country Club for the 2024 Rochester Heart Ball in support of the American Heart Association, Saturday, May 18, 2024. bringing the community together again Saturday night, to save lives and strive for equitable health in Rochester .
Almost 400 people gathered at Oak Hill Country Club to mark the special night, which celebrates and honors the work of the American Heart Association and its efforts to fight heart disease and stroke. "The American Heart Association, for a long time, has been providing funds to increase health in the community," said George Porter, chief of pediatric cardiology at Golisano Children's Hospital. "To create awareness of things like heart attacks and arrhythmias, that's why we have AEDs around the country. That's why people were out there to save Damar Hamlin last year in a football game.
The event raised more than $300,000 for critical research, youth programs and improving healthcare quality. Also Saturday night, Dr. Mark Taubman honored with the Dr. Arthur Moss Leadership Award. Dr. Taubman served as dean at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry from 2010 to 2024.
