The Supreme Court on Thursday released the letter Justice Stephen Breyer wrote to President Joe Biden telling him he would retire at the end of the current term. In the letter, dated Jan. 27 -- the day after news of his retirement broke -- Breyer said he would leave the bench after almost 28 years when the court recesses for the summer and assuming that a successor has been nominated and confirmed.Associate Justice Stephen Breyer sits during a group photo of the Justices at the Supreme Court in Washington on April 23, 2021.

"I have found the work challenging and meaningful. My relations with each of my colleagues have been warm and friendly," he said.

The last sentence rings like a rifle report.

Still wondering why the letter wasn’t released when the White House made the initial announcement…? Oh, maybe bc it wasn’t written?!? Lol

it is sad that this man didn't get to release his decision to retire before biden announced he was going to replace him with a black woman biden should have given him the respect & courtesy and second biden should have just 'picked' his nominee without saying 'a black woman'
