Putnam County Animal Services on Friday is holding a free adoption event after close to 200 dogs were found at a house in Interlachen earlier this week.

There are a lot of things the dogs still need, especially if they remain in the care of animal services.

When it comes to the adoption event, all adoption fees are waived but people will have to sign waivers. Here’s what you can donate:Food-related to small breeds and puppiesthat has specific items requested that are needed for the dogs. The dogs were taken from a home in Interlachen on Wednesday after officials said an elderly woman could not care for them anymore.

Officials said the woman fed the dogs and they were being taken care of, but the situation got out of control due to a number of animals not being spayed or neutered.“We did begin investigation as an animal, neglect case, however, there is absolutely no criminal intent here. There would be no justice served by taking any formal action against this lady. We are just here to help her and to help these animals,” Wells said.

When it comes to the donations, they can be dropped off either at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office or at any local fire station in the county.
