President Vladimir Putin said on Monday he wanted neighbouring Belarus to reactivate stalled plans for more integration with Russia after a contested election win left Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, an on-off Russian ally, on the defensive.

Belarus is a key transit country for Russian oil flowing to the West, and Moscow has long viewed it as a useful buffer zone between itself and NATO. Putin said he hoped Belarus would opt, too, for closer military-political ties with Russia inside a defence bloc that they both belong to. He has previously baulked at closer ties after Russia scaled back subsidies to the Belarusian energy sector, and in a pre-election speech excoriated Russia, saying Moscow had downgraded formerly brotherly relations to those of a partnership.

You mean after the Belarusian people protest a fraudulent election.

Of course...

Putin has struck a deal with the Devil and his soul will never find peace. The people of Russia starve and freeze while Putin piles up gold and silver. He has no chance of redemption, he is a dead soul walking.

Looks like Putin has become public enemy 1 for the world.

USSR being reborn on trumps watch

No wonder Trump hasn’t condemned the election fraud in Belarus.

this morning i saw Belarusians talking amongst themselves about this, arguing (both ways) that he would make a 'push' or not, but i don't really grasp a connection between a contested election of the incumbent and how that translates to an appeal towards russification/annexation.

Integration meaning military resources. Say it like it is.

Narrator: 'Integration, a.k.a Annexation'.

Is that what he's decided to call it, 'integration?' I bet he does.

You mean annexation?

Here we go, folks. Ukraine, Act II. It's not going to stop.

pani_walewska The only my hope that mrs.Tikhanovskaya for putin is not general mr.Lebed for Yeltsin! We Believe! We can! We shall overcome!

Who knew?

“Integration”, you mean like Crimea?

Ras-Putins new way of saying annexing or overthrowing a sovereign country.

putin wants to own all the countries russia lost when the wall came down.the rebuild of the Soviet Union is what he dreams of.

Of course he does 🙄

Better not lose Belarus to the much more prosperous and free Europe

Putin and Soros are working hand in hand in Belarus, in other Eastern European countries and in the US. Happy to bring havoc and destabilization. It’s a fact.

Looks like Putin is getting his sharpie out now to draw where 'Russia' is 🙄 AnnexNoWay

Have you found a way to blame this on Trump yet Too lazy to read all the comments here.

You misspelt 'occupation'

He is not as smart as he pretends he is.

If he invades Belarus Trump won’t do shit about it.

CrankyAssCajun Belarus doesn’t want “integration” (aka invasion) They’ve been screaming for days ubt Soviet mercenaries coming across the borders (ever since Trump said he’d pull US Troops from Germany) This is the kind of democracy ending gaslighting we’re going to see here w/out a Biden win.

Russia and Turkey have until January 21st to cause havoc

CrankyAssCajun We know the feeling

Belarus has been under the same dictatorship for 30 years now and Russia still wanting to reannex the country to reform the Soviet Union is a national security threat for NATO and it’s allies in the Baltic/Eastern Europe

'Integration'.

Soo, he’s invading?

Integration? What a lousy word choice.

The way he 'integrated' Crimea right

Brezhnev doctrine reloaded

Ah, typical russian land grab loading

Nonono. Let them be independent for gods sake.

Luka has less and less wiggle room.

Jävla gubbe

putin is getting the soviet bloc together, that's his goal

Putin is expanding Russia’s boarders. Once a KGB Agent always a KGB Agent.

They shut the internet down and all broadcasting networks. The opposition leader is in hiding due to police arresting campaign staff. The results have been rigged. Arresting anyone they can. AndreaChalupa SteveSchmidtSES Ominous. Foreshadowing American fall election.

Putin Will try to take chance when Lukashenko is weak. Probably will help him repress Belarusian ppl! Belarus

Belarus and Russia have an open border. Russia has military bases in Belarus. Belarus is a member of CIS and the Eurasian Union. What Putin means by more “integration” is removing Belarus from the map.

Here we go, Soviet Union is coming back, state by state.

They need Ceausescu scenario. We are with you people ! Fight for your rights !

Putin imagines the 'The New Soviet Union.' Now that he has his fool in place he can make his moves to make his dream come true.

And nobody saw this coming?

The US will never let it happen... Normally...

Yeah, that should help.

When Putin says „integration“, he always means „Annexation“. And Friend Lukaschenko knows it.

Read: accept the rigged elections and the re-elected dictator, or Russia will annex!

Doesn't sound like something he would say (that's sarcasm)

He is thinking of the night he spent with Trump...ah! Nostalgia!

🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙊

It looks like Putin pours fuel at fire and doesn't afraid that flame can spread across the border to Russia.

Isn’t America enough for him ?

顔変わった?

Gangsters R Us

Same headline different country if chump stays in office.

Back to the 80s for Russia.

Integration? Like with Crimea? GAHAHAGaHAHAHA

Fantastic

I bet he does....
