Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Wednesday a partial mobilization in Russia as the war in Ukraine reaches nearly seven months and Moscow loses ground on the battlefield.

In a separate television interview, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Russia would immediately call up 300,000 reservists to"hold the line at the front" in Ukraine.

The Russian leader also insisted Russia had a moral obligation to protect civilians in partially Russian-occupied portions of Ukraine as they held a series of"referendums" aimed at joining the Russian Federation later this week.

VladdyP needs 300,000 more poorly trained, poorly equipped soldiers to serve as cannon fodder as the Ukrainians try to recover the territory Russia seized by force in an unprovoked war. Hopefully the Ukrainians can recover Crimea. Make all the Russian lives count for something.

Let’s see how the referendum goes this week, they might gain territory as they lose ground on the battlefield.

What he failed to announce is his military complex can't provide a full, proper kit or weapons.

Russia has lost. stop Russian war crimes. Pay reparations. Go home

Don't worry let's do kebab during surfing

- Russia hasn't lost any ground on the battlefield. They have so much ground now, they need more forces to defend it. -

This is the face of a coward, loser and Hitler wannabee!

This will be a massive embarrassment where he loses even more troops and it may lead to unrest and protests from those in Russia who finally see his actions for what they are

At some point they should realize that they are following a dying mad man. He will irreparably harm their country and the world before his death if the Russian people allow it. Time for another Russian Revolution.

Interesting that the speech was not broadcast live late on Tuesday as planned. Insteand a recorded version was shown on Wednesday morning. Did something happen to puttinu ?

Phuk with this puff piece!

Time to send more weapons to Ukraine!

This guy must be removed from within. If this effort fails as it will his desperation will lead to chem weapons and nukes.

Ukraine should shell and bomb the heck out of the Russian held “front lines.” Overwhelm them and keep them running. Don’t stop bombing them. I’d even say Ukraine is warranted to send a missile to the Kremlin. Make Putin defend his own land.

I'll bet that went over like a fart in church to the Russian people. You're being drafted! 🤣

Sounds like desperation, doesn't it Tucker?

Any peace talks scheduled? No? What possible reason could there be? Need WW3?

So Russians that don’t want to be soldiers can go die in Ukraine also? More fertilizer for the flowers I guess? 🤷🏼

Conscripts won’t win the war with Ukraine but a draft will make Putin persona non grata in his own country. This move smacks of desperation!

A Grade A lunatic!

4 Ukrainian Regions Schedule Votes This Week to Join RussiaThe separatist leaders of four Russian-controlled areas of Ukraine say they are planning to hold referendums this week for the territories to become part of Russia as Moscow loses ground in the war it launched. The votes will be held in the Luhansk, Kherson and partly Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions. The announcement of the balloting starting Friday came after a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday that they were needed. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev also said that folding Luhansk and Donetsk in eastern Ukraine into Russia itself would make their redrawn frontiers “irreversible” and enable Moscow to use “any means” to defend them.
