Public defender sentenced to prison for trying to buy drugs from undercover DEA agent in Phoenix

The Valley attorney was caught trying to purchase meth and pills from someone who turned out to be an undercover federal agent.MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. — A former public defender in Maricopa County has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after she attempted to buy drugs from an undercover agent, officials say.

Nyemba began communicating with someone who was an undercover federal agent and tried negotiating a deal to buy a couple of pounds of meth. "This is contrary to the evidence, which shows Nyemba was a confident, willing and eager participant, who maintained control of her business transactions with the drug trafficking organization," prosecutors wrote in a court filing.Ex-Border Patrol agent sentenced to prison for helping to smuggle drugs in Arizona“The Valley” is what locals call the Phoenix Metropolitan Area.
