Highway 1 is closed at Palo Colorado due to the coastal road falling away during Saturday's storm. Highway 1 was closed at Palo Colorado in Big Sur by a landslide, said California Highway Patrol Saturday night.
Convoys are scheduled through the area at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. for the forseeable future, beginning Sunday. There's no estimate as to when the highway will reopen. Travelers on southbound Highway 1 will find a full closure in place at Palo Colorado at Post Mile 61.5. Travelers on northbound Highway 1 from the Cambria/San Simeon area will continue to encounter a closure of Highway 1 just south of Limekiln State Park at PM 20. Highway 1 is closed from the north at Palo Colorado to just south of Limekiln State Park, the CHP said. Caltrans engineers were assessing the situation.
