Eight Democrats led by Reps. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Cori Bush of Missouri told Biden in a letter that a looming eviction crisis demanded"an urgent government response.”
The lawmakers who signed the letter included Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Pramila Jayapal of Washington, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Jimmy Gomez of California and Jamaal Bowman of New York. The Biden administration has said that it did not extend the moratorium implemented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention because of a Supreme Court ruling last month that indicated a majority of justices believed the CDC exceeded its authority.now face the risk of eviction
You should probably contact the CDC? They might be able to extend the Eviction Moratorium?
Too bad they could not create any legislation to deal with it. I hope help comes soon.
We know why they won't mention the SCOTUS decision--they want attention. But why aren't you?
Too little too late from the Democrats. The moratorium ended at midnight.
I see Cori Bush still hasn't figured out her job vs his yet.
Gee, if only there were a co-equal branch of government that people like Pressley and Bush could be elected to that also had the power to do something about this...
When are you going to post a retraction of this story?
Biden can't do it, Congress must.
How did these people pay the rent before the pandemic? They got stimulus checks, about $6000 a month in unemployment extended benefits, extra food stamps free cell phone & Internet. So what have they done with all this bonus money they’ve gotten instead of paying the rent?
President Biden does not grasp the difficulty of actually receiving rental assistance from the states. It is not as simple as making a phone call; one must jump through many hoops. The states, thus far, have an extremely poor record of actually dispersing the funds.
Not a bad move by coribush. Of course Biden administration already indicated a low level of interest. But we'll see if he responds. I think joebiden needs to move to compensating landlords. Or states or local governments.
if only there was a way to legislate it
and zip was done
