Residents in Deptford gathered Tuesday morning to watch a procession of police vehicles accompanying the body ofShisler, 27,Hundreds of area residents gathered at the police station Sunday night to honor the fallen officer and a memorial continues to grow around his patrol vehicle, which is parked in front of the building. Area residents also formed a vehicle procession Monday night to pay tribute to the Shisler family.
Investigators said Shisler was on-duty March 10 when he stopped pedestrian Mitchell Negron Jr., 24, of Deptford, shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Delsea Drive in Deptford. “We go out and do what we do knowing that the risk is there,” said Tom Gilbert, chief of detectives with Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office. “And this is what we do when something like this happens.”
