BOSTON—Federal prosecutors are recommending prison time for parents who have pleaded guilty in the college-admissions cheating case, urging the judge to send a message about privilege and fairness when deciding sentences.
Proposed sentences, though, are generally at the low end of or even below initial sentencing recommendations laid out in plea agreements this spring. Why aren't schools sued ?
I agree however; the officials are scared because of the gender issue. She's a women and she believes that she's entitled. BS!! She and her brat daughter and any one else involved, are nothing but liars and losers. ♀️
We should go after the people in government that give to these universities and mysteriously get their kids into these institutions, that is a double standard
Better to have the guilty parents go around schools apologising for what they did and advising parents to let their children have their successes and failures in life without parental interference. Putting them in jail does nothing for anyone.
Are you kidding me? Locks them up. 1 year mandatory. Minimum. They have forever corrupted and debased the rules for the rest of Middle Class that plays by the RULES. I mean, seriously?
LovesTheJust Start with Trump and Melanoma then - both either lied about attending college or earning a grade - and yet fraudulently benefited from those lies while helping set a precedent that encourages a culture of lying and fraud in higher edu for profit
Have her pay for 4 years of tuition and board for twelve students every year for 14 years
Sure, but can we also investigate other similar cases, such as how in the world patently dumb EricTrump was able to get in Georgetown? How about getting the records on such people's admissions to the top colleges too?
Rich people don't go to prison.
The principle of uncorrupted college admissions is important & to be protected. Huffman admitted her guilt, is clearly remorseful, cooperative and willing to atone. Laughlin, on the other hand, is indignant, with greater guilt & headed for a well deserved legal face punch. Jail!
Who did she hurt physically or financially the feds over reach again. Stop the f’ing career advancement at others expense get a real job
Between the corrupt officials and the hollywood radicals, someone better be held accountable.
I thought liberals said there are too many people in jail already. So let’s free the thieves and murderers to make room for this?
Pop culture has parodied parents making donations to get their kids into school for decades. When did it become illegal?
mikiebarb 🙄🙄🙄 the heinous crime of using your resources to try to better your kids’ lives
most politicians in DC should get prison time.
Instead of seeking medicare for the students who may have lost opportunities, we take the sadistic approach to find fulfillment in the suffering of others😪
Does that take into consideration parents who agreed to a plea bargain and the others who are going to court? Going to court and losing, in my opinion, would get more jail time.
That would prove what, exactly?
If they were poor & minorites, they'd spend the rest of their lives behind bars. Two-tiered 'Murican 'justice' system.
