Prince William County authorities are investigating a Friday night crash that killed a 31-year-old pedestrian.
Police said a 27-year-old man was driving a 2013 Hyundai Sonata north on Interstate 95 in Virginia. When the driver attempted to exit at Dumfries Road, he hit a pedestrian who was wearing dark clothes and walking in the roadway, according to police, who responded to the scene at 9:44 p.m.The pedestrian, whom officials identified as Jamel Terrell Tanner of Dumfries, was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.
The driver remained at the scene. Officials are still investigating but said neither speed nor impairment appeared to have been factors.
