With cameras getting set to roll any day now on Blade Runner 2099, the show has reportedly added Euphoria and Hunger Games franchise star Hunter Schafer as a co-lead alongside the previously-announced Yeoh . Details on Schafer’s character are being kept under wraps, as are all other details about the highly-anticipated Amazon Prime series.

Schafer Joins Scott’s Latest Continuation Of The Blade Runner Story Close Scott’s original Blade Runner movie revolutionized science fiction when it came out in 1982. Featuring groundbreaking visuals, the noir-inspired film set a tone for gritty futuristic sci-fi that would inspire filmmakers for years to come. One of those filmmakers, Villeneuve, took over directorial duties on 2017’s Blade Runner 2049, the long-awaited sequel to Scott’s original classic.

Blade Runner 2049 was something of a box office disappointment, grossing just $267 million worldwide, and now Scott will turn to Prime Video and the small screen in once again expanding the universe he introduced back in 1982. Silka Luisa serves as showrunner on Blade Runner 2099, bringing a new perspective to the material, with a story Scott has likened to Aldous Huxley’s classic novel Brave New World.
