, a Republican who represents Texas’ 23rd Congressional District, supported the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. The gun safety legislation, modest and yet the most significant in decades, passed after the May 24 Robb Elementary massacre in Uvalde, the town of 15,000 in his district.Unsurprisingly, but still disappointing, he drew backlash from some in the GOP, getting censured by two county GOP groups.
Although the gun legislation doesn’t go far enough to prevent another tragedy like that in Uvalde, Gonzales’ vote on guns, as well as same-sex marriage, demonstrated character and a willingness to rise above political rhetoric to stand on moral ground. The far-right’s attacks on transgender people aren’t just political. They are cruel and dehumanizing. Gonzales’ decision to collaborate on anti-transgender legislation with U.S. Rep.Gonzales can do better. We know this because of his other votes. Yet he co-sponsored Greene’s, H.R. 8731, which would criminalize gender-affirming medical care, including puberty blockers and hormones, to transgender youth younger than 18.
Greene believes she knows better than medical doctors or parents when it comes to treating youth who are transgender. In a video, she disparaged Boston Children’s Hospital’sRicardo Martinez, CEO of, an Austin-based nonprofit, said this legislation criminalizes what many families and providers see as essential health care and will put children at risk.

Must pander to both Democrats and Republicans to win District 23. Tony's trying to keep his gig.
THANK YOU! Personally, I found this political pandering DEPLORABLE. CD-23 deserves BETTER.
He should have known better. It shouldn't have taken him so long to openly support Uvalde victims.
