Power cut to millions as California faces heightened wildfire risks. More here: by StevenJGorman

LOS ANGELES - Electricity was shut off to nearly 750,000 California homes and workplaces on Wednesday as Pacific Gas and Electric Co imposed a string of planned power outages of unprecedented scale to reduce wildfire risks posed by extremely windy, dry weather.

A second phase began at 3 p.m. Pacific time and extended the blackout to 234,000 more customers, said the utility, which was considering a third phase for 4,600 more dwellings and businesses. A similar cutoff was under consideration by neighboring utility Southern California Edison for nearly 174,000 of its customers, about 50,000 of them in Los Angeles County, should severe winds hit southern California on Thursday as forecast, SoCal Edison spokeswoman Taelor Bakewell said.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said “red-flag” warnings were posted across the state for what was shaping up to be the strongest wind event so far this season. It urged customers to stock up on flashlights, fresh batteries, first-aid supplies and cash, and plan for healthcare needs, from refrigerated medicine to electrical devices.

If you will notice, the autos burned, but the trees did not!! Wake up and smell the smoke!

Good idea.

LovToRideMyTrek Gettingtrump This is so dystopian. California is so hideous. Thank God I got out of there.

All good response but 1 says AMMO FEMA. Don't forget, Social Engineering to fit you all into pigeon holes.

California is a third world country. It's just that simple.

See,what goes, can be in any where, time have changed, climate would be the next cause for migration. So why is TRUMP BUILDING A WALL? Things are no longer as it used to be. Please bear with the situations and comply properly.

Check on your disabled neighbors please.

Typical California shit. Explain how that helps.

I don’t see how that would help anything

But if we had socialism in the US, the power would go out like in Venezuela...😐

Utilities added: “Good news is it’s only hot & dry in California 9 months out of the year. We’ve designed our grid to work (without bursting into flames for those remaining 3 months. Hopefully.”

Another example of a DemocratUtopia!

Hospitals remain open? Accidents, crime increases? Attributable death from these measures....thats the news i could use

Should sue for lost revenue, PG&E is incompetent, company should be nationalized.

One thing you left out was that 500 FEMA Officers are coming here not with bottled water but, with automatic weapons and ammo. I hope they don't think they are going to confiscate our weapons!

I imagine reliable gas generators will be a hot item at Home Depot moving forward.

This sounds like a 'golden' opportunity for a better power company to come in - and take this very profitable contract away from PG&E . but what do I know?

High poverty Homeless crisis Housing crisis Medieval diseases reapearing Rodent infestation Power stability issues And Cali isn't on par with a 3rd world nation?

I guess the Golden state is not so Gold after all .

Why not shut off the mouthpieces known as radical environmentalists and clean up your dead brush and tinder. Just a thought

With all of the taxes California rakes in, our power lines should have been placed underground 10 years ago. 'Nuff said.

It's better to cut electric power than seeing many dead people.

What a beautiful state

Deep State running out of ammo? They seem really desperate to generate anger, fear and desperation in people by staging this kind of events.

Sucks to be green.

InfrastructureWeek ?

QueenofCr8tvty Love this game - great memories!

PTI is responsible for this ... PTI PMLN

This must be the infrastructure policy we were promised!? 🤦‍♀️

Great Dem's !!

StevenJGorman But it was neither hot, dry, nor windy so why the shutdown. A few weeks ago would have made more sense.

cryborg StevenJGorman PGE: its corruption is surpassed only by its incompetence.

StevenJGorman They should fix their equipment that causes the fires not punish the Customer!

StevenJGorman Welcome to the socialist state of California!

StevenJGorman More evidence of ClimateCrisis

StevenJGorman 🔌💣🔥🏔️🌋🛣️🔪🗡️☣️☢️🤖🔫⛽🏭⚰️🌎⏱️⏳

StevenJGorman .CAgovernor GavinNewsom CASenateDems It seems to me that rather than cutting power, PGE4Me ought to invest in its infrastructure and make its power lines safe. Do we need any more evidence to prove that utilities should be public, not private? Buy back Private Utilities.

StevenJGorman Uhh yeah wild fires. Lol MAGA is for all sane thinkers

StevenJGorman Please we had 2 mph winds gusting maybe up to 5 mph. Don’t support our horrible utility. It’s a bad derelict company that needs to cease and let a competent company be our utility provider

StevenJGorman Is this the russian maddow

PG&E Eyeing Massive Power Shutoffs Across Northern California Due to Extreme Weather ConcernsCalifornia utility PG&E is warning residents there may be widespread power shutoffs later this week that could affect up to 600,000 customers. The preemptive shutdowns aim to prevent a repeat of last year's Camp Fire amid gusty winds and dry conditions. PG&E uses faulty equipment that they rarely check on, but 600,000 people have to suffer for it instead of them. Or, maybe they could fix the fucking fire-starting infrastructure. Are you excited to be forced to go camping in your home?
