Possible severe storms during San Antonio's Fiesta weekend

Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will become widespread over all areas as the afternoon progresses. Heavy rains and a few strong to severe storms are possible later this afternoon.

SAN ANTONIO - Saturday.Much of the day will be delightful for outdoor activities through the morning and including a chunk of the afternoon. Skies will be mostly cloudy, temperatures start in the 60s then warm into the 70s. Any rain chance from the morning to mid-afternoon is in the isolated 20% category. An upper level disturbance well west of Texas is quickly moving east and will push into West Texas late morning.

This area of rain and storms will then spread east the remainder of the day pushing into our western tier counties by early to mid-afternoon. The window to watch in and around Bexar County would be between 4pm - 8pm. There will be enough instability and wind shear present in the atmosphere to support a strong to severe storm with hail and strong gusts.

Total rainfall will range from .50" to 1.50" with a spot or two possibly over 1.50" rainfall. Isolated cases of localized flooding are possible in this setup. By late evening to midnight, the rain chance will be more scattered instead of widespread and temperatures will cool quite a bit for those out. The back half of the weekend on Sunday only has a 20% or less rain chance before 9am with the rest of the day mostly cloudy, windy at times and very cool in the mid 60s! A very refreshing day for Fiesta and in the back half of April.
