‘Pop Idol’ star Darius Campbell Danesh found dead in Rochester apartment

He had more success later the same year on "Pop Idol," an early Simon Cowell reality-talent show hybrid that aimed to find a new singing star. In 2010, he won another reality show, "Popstar to Operastar" and afterward performed in a production of "Carmen" at London’s O2 Arena.

Absolutely gutted that Darius has passed away. I remember watching him on Popstars in 2001. He was a genuine person and so very talented. I had hoped to see him in theatre one day here in the UK. My heart goes out to Darius's family and friends. Rest in Peace Darius. ❤️
