After courting controversy for wearing a prosthetic nose to play Leonard Bernstein, Bradley Cooper's 'Maestro' lost Best Makeup to 'Poor Things' at the 2024 Oscars in a stunning upset.

Cooper received backlash on social media for wearing a prosthetic to play Leonard Bernstein — though Bernstein's family passionately defended him.Entertainment Weekly's Oscars expert, 'RuPaul's Drag Race' beat reporter, host of 'Quick Drag' Twitter Spaces, and cohost of 'EW's BINGE' podcast. Almost all of the drag content on this site is my fault .

"We were touched to the core to witness the depth of his commitment, his loving embrace of our father's music, and the sheer open-hearted joy he brought to his exploration," the statement read, going on to praise the "profound respect" with which they said Cooper approached the film's story. "It breaks our hearts to see any misrepresentations or misunderstandings of his efforts. It happens to be true that Leonard Bernstein had a nice, big nose.
