Political Realignment & the Newest Jim Crow

I never forget the day that a cross was burned in a neighborhood yard when I was a young man in the late 1970s. I asked why this was done, and the answer was, “They found out he was a Republican.”

Changing Ideological Alignments: Over time, the Democratic Party's national platform began to shift towards vast welfare oriented positions on social and economic issues with less emphasis on working families, education, health care, crime, and law and order. This created a disconnect with conservative Democrats, who increasingly found themselves at odds with their own party.

Remember, Trump actually was a key player in the Reform Party years ago, and in the 2016 presidential election , the Reform Party endorsed the Republican candidate Donald Trump.

However, he told me that people in his party made the program complicated as democrats did not want corporations or workers to get an easy tax break. The ESOP program was populist in nature, but the socialists fought it as they saw it as a tax break and not a benefit for workers.
